Description

The Flavian Amphitheater, better known as the Colosseum, it is one of the most famous Roman monuments in the world. The name Colosseum derives from the enormous bronze statue of Nero which was erected nearby and which, given its size, was known as the Colossus of Nero.

The construction of the amphitheater was started by Vespasiano but completed by Tito in 80 AD. and open to the public with a solemn inauguration lasting a full 100 days, during which 5,000 wild animals were killed!

The audience accessed inside through 80 arched entries. The shows represented were of two types: fights between gladiators and hunts with ferocious animals. The last sight of which was reported was made in 523 AD.

The Palatine Hill, is one of the seven hills of Rome and according to the legend it was on the Palatine that Romulus and Remus were born, the brothers suckled by the she-wolf who later became the founders of the city. The ruins surrounded by greenery make the Palatine hill a veritable open-air museum.

The Roman Forum in Ancient Rome, was the focal point around which the city developed, and also the city life. It was a real center for commerce, religion and politics. Today entering the Forum is like finding oneself suddenly in the past.
