Description

The tour begins with a visit to Santa Maria Maggiore, the most important and best preserved Roman Church dedicated to the Virgin Mary, with its 5th century mosaics.

Then we proceed towards to San Giovanni in Laterano, the Basilica is the most important of the four major Basilicas as well as being the Cathedral of the Diocese of Rome and the official ecclesiastical seat of the Pope.

After the visit to the Holy Stairs, the tour will proceed on the ancient Via Appia, one of the most important Roman roads.

We will pass nearby the small church of “Domine quo vadis” until you reach the Catacombs, the ancient underground cemeteries and extraordinary expression of faith for the first Christians.

Walking through the narrow galleries of the catacomb you can see the wide variety of tombs and decorations.
